Welcome to efosterw.com. Here you’ll find a collection of thoughts and things related to Eric Foster-Whiddon. That’s me. What kinds of thoughts and things? Generally, those related to who I am and what I do. More on this below. If you know me from my academic career, you may notice that this site is not all that scholarly. Also more on this below.
What this site is.
This, as you can see, is a personal blog. What does that mean? Essentially, it’s a blog (from the archaic “weblog,” like a logbook housed on the internet) that represents a person. As such, this site includes a range of information related to my life that I have chosen to share. Posts are categorized as they correlate with major life-seasons and offer some insights from things I have learned along the way. These categories are Academia, Business, Christianity, and Family.
I am writing for friends and family, people who are thinking about the Christian faith, and my students. I have a few older posts that relate to business from a Christian perspective; these were written during season of entrepreneurship and seem worth preserving. I don’t write much on this topic anymore.
What this site isn’t.
This is not a personal professional site. I have a CV (see the top menu) and a profile on LinkedIn and Academia; if you’re looking for detailed career info, it’s all there. This is not really an academic blog and the content of this site is intended primarily for those who are not professional academics. There are places both online and in real life where community happens and ideas are disseminated within my academic fields (Biblical Studies and Classics). If you know that world, you also know where to find that information. I provide links to my work here, but the purpose of this blog is not to get into the weeds of my research or comment on academia at large. I write posts related to academia that I feel will most benefit my students or non-academics who are studying the Bible or classical literature.
Fun stuff.
I wrote a little allegorical book a few years back. I also tinker with songwriting and home recording. You can find links to both of these in the top menu.
